Crack Repair Melbourne

Repairing small cracks in brickwork doesn’t need to be a major task these days. Small hair line cracks are common in brickwork as the walls react to their environment. We use a patented helical crack stitching system to avoid the need for for a messy pull down and rebuild. By using this system we can bind the brickwork each side of the crack back together with minimal dust, mess and time spent.

We embed the helical rod deep in the joint, then repoint over the top with a colour matched mortar, so its never seen again. The final result is a wall returned to full structural integrity.

Large cracks, or cracks which are misaligned from one side to the other may be indicative of a more serious problem. We can help you investigate this to ensure any movement is addressed at the cause, and any remedial work performed on the brickwork itself is not done in vain, so your repair stands the test of time.

How It Works

First, we cut out all the mortar along the crack to depth of 30mm, and cut housings for the helical rod to a depth of 50mm, extending 500mm each side of the crack. All joints are flushed cleaned of any dust or debris which prevent bonding.

The helical rod is to be inserted in to the housing across the crack, stitching the brickwork each side of the crack to the other.

The joints are masked up to avoid any mess on the face, a cementitious grout is injected to the back of the housing. The helical rod is embedded, followed by more grout in front of the rod. This is all pushed in tight with a pointing tool.

Mortar is mixed up to a ratio of 4:1 sand and cement, and the crack is repointed, sealing the brick wall up again and preventing penetration from the elements outside.
